In May 2017, Amaya’s shareholders voted in favour of rebranding the company – ’The Stars Group’. This was announced at the meeting where its first quarter results were announced. Approval for the new name from shareholders was needed so that the firm could press ahead with its plans. In its new form, Amaya says the new company name will come into existence since August 2017 and will coincide with the head office’s new company address to one in Toronto, Canada
At the company’s AGM, shareholders also approved continuing to comply with the Business Corporations Act (Ontario), with Amaya now set to become a corporation in Ontario. By approving of this, shareholders have now adopted the articles of continuance and the new bylaws related to Amaya under this act. Thirdly, the meeting also saw shareholders voting to re-elect several directors to the Board of Amaya.
The directors of the company now include Alfred Hurley Jr., David Lazzarto, Peter Murphy, Divyesh Gadhia, Mary Turner and Harlan Goodson. They will continue to operate in their earlier roles as company directors. Whereas Gadhia will continue to be chairman of the board, Hurley will take charge of Corporate Governance, and the Nominating and Compensation Committee, and Lazzarato will be chairperson of the Audit Committee.
